Who I am
This website is run by Rosie Sayers, an independent celebrant trading as Rosie Sayers Celebrant ("I", "me", "my"). I am the data controller for the personal information collected through this site and in the course of my work.
You can contact me at any time:
- Email: rosie@rosiesayers.co.uk
- Phone: 07380 747534
The information I collect
Depending on how you get in touch, I may collect:
- Enquiry details you give me through the contact form, by email, phone or WhatsApp: your name, email address, phone number (if you choose to give it), the type of ceremony, a date or location if you have one, how you heard about me, and anything you tell me in your message.
- Ceremony information you share with me while I prepare a service: details about you, your family, your relationships, and, for a funeral, about the person who has died. For funerals and some other ceremonies this can include sensitive information (for example about health, beliefs or family circumstances). I only collect this so I can write and lead a ceremony that is true to you, and I treat it with care.
- Basic website data, such as the pages you visit, collected through cookies and analytics (see the Cookie Policy).
Why I use it, and my lawful basis
- To reply to your enquiry and discuss what you need, on the basis of taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
- To plan, write and deliver your ceremony, on the basis of our contract.
- Where you have given consent (for example the consent box on the contact form), to contact you about your enquiry.
Sensitive (special category) information is used only to provide the ceremony you have asked me to create, on the basis of your explicit consent, or because you have chosen to share it with me for that purpose. Some of it is, by its nature, intended to be spoken publicly at the ceremony.
I do not use your details for marketing without your clear agreement, and I never sell your information.
How long I keep it
- Enquiry emails that do not lead to a booking: kept for up to 12 months and then deleted.
- Ceremony records for clients: kept for 5 years for my business records and insurance, and then deleted, unless you ask me to remove them sooner.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to: ask for a copy of the information I hold about you; ask me to correct it; ask me to delete it; object to or restrict how I use it; and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, just email me at rosie@rosiesayers.co.uk.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though I would be grateful for the chance to put things right first.
Keeping your information safe
I take reasonable steps to keep your information secure and limit access to it. No system is perfectly secure, but I treat everything you share with me, especially at a difficult time, with real care and discretion.
Children
Naming ceremonies and some other services involve information about children. I only collect this from a parent or guardian, and only to prepare the ceremony.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
