What it is
A ceremony that says where you are now
A vow renewal is a chance to stand in front of the people who matter - or just each other - and say what is true about your relationship now. It is not a legal ceremony; you are already married. That means the words, the place, the people and the tone are entirely up to you.
Some couples want something joyful and celebratory. Others want it quieter, more reflective, or marked by the people who helped them get through. I listen first, write second, and lead the ceremony so you can be present in it.
Why people renew their vows
Anniversaries, milestones, new chapters and fresh starts
There is no single reason, and no single shape. Here are some of the moments I have written vow renewals for.
Anniversaries that deserve more than a card
Ten, twenty, forty years - or any number that matters. A chance to look back at what happened, what you survived, and what you still mean to each other.
Relationship milestones
A new chapter, a move, a career change, an empty nest, a retirement. A ceremony can mark a pivot point with the people who witnessed it.
After a difficult period
Illness, loss, separation and repair, or simply a hard few years. Some couples want to say the words again from a place that is more honest than the first time.
Blended families
Children and stepchildren can be named, included, or invited to speak. A vow renewal can be a public way of saying ‘this is us now’.

Not everyone wants a crowd. I can write something intimate for a back garden, a favourite walk, or the place where you first met.

Repeat your original vows, write new ones, or mix the two. Funny, plain-spoken, deeply serious - whatever fits who you are now.
Readings and contributions
Children, friends, grandchildren or the people who introduced you. I help place voices so the ceremony feels like a conversation.
Music and memory
Songs from your wedding, tracks that have become yours since, or something entirely new. Live musicians or a playlist both work.
Symbolic moments
Re-lighting a candle, re-exchanging rings, planting a tree, blending sand from two places, or creating something to keep. Only if it means something.
A keepsake of the day
A printed copy of the ceremony, a certificate, photographs, or a recording. Something to look back on when the party is over.

How a vow renewal comes together

You talk about the story you want told, who you want involved, and the tone - celebratory, reflective, intimate or full of people.

Writing and review
I write the ceremony and send it to you. You sit with it, change anything that does not sound like you, and sign it off together.

The day
I lead the ceremony with calm and warmth so you can be present with each other and your guests.
